A facelift can reduce sagging skin on the face and neck. Your bone structure, heredity and skin texture all play a role in how many “years “ a facelift can remove and, to some extent, influence how long it will last. Nevertheless, it is the aim of the procedure to make you look good and feel good for your age.  Patients can wait until the sagging is significant or start earlier as a preventive maintenance so that sagging does not become too obvious and the changes are subtle. The skin and the deeper tissues are elevated and pulled back with the excessive skin being removed. This surgery can be divided into three sections: the neck, the jaw line, and the cheek mound. The surgery requires repositioning of the deeper structures under the skin to return to a more youthful appearance. The localized areas of jowl fat can be removed with liposuction or liposhaving. The incisions are designed to be as inconspicuous as possible. Recovery can be as prompt as two weeks depending on how extensive the surgery was.
 

Neck Lift
Cording down the front of the neck or excessive fat in the neck can be improved with a neck lift. With incisions behind the ear and just under the chin, deeper structures are repositioned to improve the cording and lessen the fat bulges. This procedure is often performed in conjunction with a facelift. The excessive skin is removed as it is pulled back. In two weeks most patients are able to resume social activities.
 

Lip Cheek Grooves
Deep lip cheek grooves consist of a valley and a hill on the outside of the valley.  The simplest technique to correct the problem is to insert Gore-Tex or other permanent fillers. Going through the nose down to the bottom of the valley and filling it in, makes the groove less deep.  A cheek mount lift can also be used to pull up the hill outside the groove. If there is no bruising patients recover within days.
 

Marionette or Drool Grooves
These depressions start at the corners of the mouth and make the mouth appear to turn down. The addition of a permanent three-dimensional volume filler such as Gore-Tex or Allodermâ is successful in decreasing the depth of the groove. Following surgery there is some swelling that settles quickly, but by one week patients look presentable.
